Cassina '699 Superleggera' Dining Chairs by Gio Ponti

The ‘Superleggera’ chair was considered by infamous designer, Gio Ponti to be one of his greatest masterpieces. Informed by the traditional chair making techniques of Chiavari in northern Italy, the designer took the conventions of chair making to another level. The challenge was to make an extra light chair that was also very durable. This was done by utilizing the inherent lightness and flexibility of ash wood for the frame and substantiating the design with a seat surround in durable beech. Beautiful and lithe in stature this extraordinary chair comes in weighing only 3.75 lbs! 

Material: Wood Ash Frame with refurbished lacquered caning. Single chair has original woven paper seat.
