Cantu High Dining Chairs
Designed by Sergio Rodrigues for Sergio Rodrigues
Retail Value: unknown
In the late 1950s, Sergio Rodrigues was commissioned to design the interior of Brasilia's new capital building. Part of that project included the Cantu High Dining Chairs, which quickly became prized possessions in Brazil. In 1961, they were featured in the IV Furniture Bienal in Italy and were integral in putting Brazilian design on the map.
These chairs are true icons of Brazilian mid-century design. The seat and back are made of Jacaranda wood, which is strong, beautiful and in keeping with the designers Brazilian identity. With a high, supportive back upholstered in rich brown leather, the Cantu High Dining Chairs are as comfortable as they are impressive.
