Consignor FAQs
Do you charge consignors for storage?
Do you charge consignors for storage?
We're pleased to offer our consignors complimentary storage for the duration of our contract. We understand space constraints and want to make consigning with us easy and risk-free. We do reserve the right to terminate a storage agreement with 5 days' notice, after which point a daily storage fee would accrue. But that's rarely necessary.
Can consignors still sell items on their own while consigning with you?
Can consignors still sell items on their own while consigning with you?
No, we require exclusive selling rights while we're storing your pieces. If a consignor sells directly to an outside buyer during the contract period, we're entitled to a 50% commission on the lowest price we had listed. We invest significant time and resources in promoting consigned inventory, and this policy protects that investment.
How do you handle items delivered in unsellable condition?
How do you handle items delivered in unsellable condition?
To maintain our high quality standards, we charge a nominal $25/day fee for incomplete or damaged items, starting 3 business days after intake, to motivate the consignor to retrieve them promptly. The fee stops accruing once the piece is sale-ready, or when the consignor picks it up. If it's still here after 7 days, we may choose to dispose of it. We try to be upfront about our condition criteria to avoid these situations.

As a consignor, you'll receive 50% of the final selling price for the first 3 months your item is with us, 40% for months 3-9, and 30% thereafter. We send out payments 15-30 days after the buyer takes delivery, via check or PayPal. Our transparent tiered structure rewards consignors with a larger share for pieces that sell quickly.

What is the return policy for consigned furniture that doesn't sell?
When you consign with us, we agree to a 1-year contract. After the first 60 days, either of us can decide to terminate the agreement at any point. We just require that you pick up any unsold items within 7 business days of contract termination. Otherwise, we reserve the right to donate or dispose of them. Of course, we'll work with you to adjust pricing and marketing to give pieces the best chance to sell during the contract term.
How do you determine pricing for pre-owned furniture?
How do you determine pricing for pre-owned furniture?
It's a collaborative process. We work with consignors to determine a mutually agreeable selling price and minimum price, based on our knowledge of current market value, demand for that piece/brand, and the item's condition. We want consignors to get a strong return while still offering appealing deals to buyers. Prices are adjusted down incrementally every few months to help pieces sell.
