Poul Kjaerholm for Carl Hansen & Son PK52 Professor Desk

In 1955 Poul Kjærholm created the PK52 Professor Desk to fulfill the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts need for versatile tables suited to both lecturers and students. Leveraging his exceptional cabinetmaking skills, Kjærholm engineered an innovative table design that demonstrates his sophisticated command of steel and wood construction. Metal ferrules  separate the steel frame from the wood surface, creating a dynamic design with an airy, uncluttered presence. The reversible tabletop offers practical flexibility—flip it to access a fresh work surface, or dedicate each side to different purposes, from focused work to dining and social gatherings.
