‘Connectivity’ by Besso Mercado

Besso Mercado’s paintings speak to her strong interest in mid-century modern design and architecture. Though an influence, Mercado turns the ridged idealism of her hero’s on end by questioning the nature of balance and connectivity. Whether these concepts are attainable in a topsy turvy world governed by virtual connections is under consideration. The buildings and other structured elements featured in her work, present a precarious balance of color and form creating what the artist refers to as “a state of limbo”.
